50 - 1 gallon (10"x14") mylar bags & 50 - 300cc oxygen absorbers for dried dehydrated and long term food storage
What People are Saying about Mylar Bags:
These bags are very good. I'm able to fit Three of my 6"x10" vacuum sealed bags inside the quart size mylar and then close off it. However! I've an Excalliber dehydrator and it will not take the air in the mylar bags. Not sure why or if they are even SUPPOSED to be air-free, since I'm new to all this! But at least my individual bags are air-free and I throw in the actual oxygen absorbers inside both the individual bags and the mylar ones for good measure! All in all, they are very nice to keep light and any air FLOW from your contents and are fairly rugged as well!
As soon as I received this particular thick Mylar Bags, I sealed them up utilizing an iron after vacuum sealing them with my personal Food Saver and tossing in a few from the Oxygen Absorbers. There are many YouTube movies to show you exactly how to do this if you aren't certain.
I sealed meals for long term storage space (wheatberries / oats / peas / beans Or sugar / etc) Bags sealed up very nice. Sturdy bags. Its been about 3 weeks and the Vodafone has been absorbed and the bags are nice and dimpled around the food...easy to seal with the 6" clamshell crimper.
I purchased these when I saw they had gone down within price - less than $25.00 - for 50 of each. I could not pass it up. 'm so glad that I didn't!
I love this particular sized bag, it's perfect for making up smaller portions. I can easily fit 12 1/2 cups of hard white wheat inside, oxygen absorbers and have room to close off edge with iron. I don't have a vacuum saver, so I use the side of an light weight aluminum box level along with my iron (turn OFF steam) set upon med-high. It gives the perfect sized seal. (Just an F.Y.I. - 12 1/2 cups of wheat equals a little over Five.5 lbs -- which means, you can simply grab a bag and refill your #10 can that you use on daily basis, which is things i do.) I was able to fit 13 glasses of rolled oats, with lots of room for the sealing. No problems.
We even did up a couple bags into smaller bags for my flaxseed by making a close off down the horizontal center of bag, closing the open edge, cutting smack in middle of horizontal seal that I made (my personal box level is 1" wide), snipping off ends of vertical aspect, then filling as I would a full quart bag, just smaller portions. Works fantastic!

I have to say, I'm very pleased, the bags function like they are supposed to and also the oxygen absorbers **have done their work as well. (**See update below) Can't beat which. (I added some pictures to main image to show the way they work in tandem.)

Edited: August 23, 2010: (Update - you need to use more than One of the oxygen absorbers that comes in this looking for the bags. The instructions that come on the absorbers condition: Use 1 for each 10"x14" Mylar Bag. I had to use anywhere from 3 to 5 for each gallon and 2 to three for my smaller 1/2 bags that I made.)

10 - 5 gallon (20"x30") mylar bags & 10 - 2,000cc oxygen absorbers for dried dehydrated and long term food storage
What People are Saying about Mylar Bags:
Received the bags fast, attempted them out right away, they are bigger then I imagined and perform hold quite a bit of item. I used the first bag for rice. Before sealing the tote I used two oxygen absorbers, closed the bag using an iron, sealed 5 gallon bucket and that was it. Examined 24hrs later for a great seal, no problems or leaks. Will check on a monthly basis for leaks, however i dont expect any, perfect bags for long term storage.
The Mylar Bags were perfect for my long-term storage needs. I just wish that the Oxygen Absorbers had been individually packaged. Whenever you tear into them, you waste Vodafone absorbers if you don't have a need for a lot more than say 2 for each project. A good buy, however.
This is my 2nd time ordering mylar bags as well as oxygen absorbers from OakTeaInternational. The quality is very good and the shipping had been fast. I'm always excited to see the package arrive prior to the estimated delivery date. The mylar bags are a very good quality and very thick. Will order again from this vendor if I need more. Can't think how easy it's to pack long term Food Storage. Wish more people would do it.
These mylar bags arrived double wrapped and in wonderful condition. They seem very durable (i was surprised by the thickness because these are my very first mylar bags). The O2 absorbers were sealed and in good condition. Overall happy with the merchandise and the delivery.
They are a must have for anyone thinking about food storage. You can read my "how to use these" with the 1 gallon size. These easily fit in a 5-6 gallon pail with plenty of room to spare. You can close off them at the top and then use some of your meals later and then reseal this.
This is my very first venture into storing meals long-term. I did my homework and I chose this product because it looked like a good deal... Turns out it is a lot more than a good deal. Bags are very heavy-duty and absorbers were delivered vacuum packed. I highly recommend this product in order to anyone interested. I will be buying more! Like a side note, We hi-jacked the wifes hair straightener and tried it for closing the bags. Wow! I'm sure that I am not the first one to do this but it is absolutely the way to go. So, I wound up buying her a brand new hair appliance and that i took over her old one! Stay prepared my friends...
* Just some suggestions to people who are purchasing these bags for long food storage. Use a food saver or something that hurts the air out of the tote that helps along the oxygen absorbers. You might like to reuse them if at all possible. *
